1) Three to Four Week Craft?

I am looking for any ideas you may have for a christmas craft for grades 5
and 6.  For our pre-teen group we would like to do an on going craft that
would take 3 or 4 weeks.  something that they could work on for 20 minutes
or so each week.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

--from SSTN: a few years ago Kingdom Kids and 5th and 6th graders made
Chrismon ornaments (Christ-monograms). You can see our trees at:

2) Detective party

Hello!  Thank you all for the great ideas for a detective party.  For
those
that wanted the site here it is
https://www.kidssundayschool.com/Gradeschool/Activities/BibleDetective/1activity26.php

.  They are great books that only take a couple minutes to read per
chapter.  If you order it from this site it is around 10 bucks and he will
autograph it to your
detectives or whomever you would like and it can be the prize they work
for
with the Bible Bucks.  I teach 4-6th grade and they are way into it!  God
Bless!
Joni

--from SSTN: you can find the books in our bookstore by typing "Scripture
Sleuth" into the search box at:

3) Shipwrecked on Malta

Friends,

I didn't find anything in the archive for this Bible story, so I thought
I'd post my snack and game ideas.

During the lesson I used a piece of blue posterboard for the sea and set a
small cardboard boat on it. Each child colored a tiny paper doll to look
like him/herself, and we placed them on the boat as the crew. It was fun
to imagine being on the boat with Paul, especially when we shook the ocean
and made our boat crash!

Before class, I drew lines on the cardboard ocean leading up to the paper
Island of Malta in one corner of the posterboard. When we played our
review game, the paper dolls became swimmers heading to the island. With
every correct answer the kids moved one line closer to the island.

For the snack, I took a fruit roll type snack, unrolled it and cut it into
four long skinny ribbons. (I cut them in half both vertically and
horizontally to make four). Lay the long ribbon on your hand (from
fingertip to wrist direction) and lay 15 small pretzel sticks side by side
along the ribbon. Put one gummy worm on top of the pretzels and slowly
close your hand to make a bundle of sticks with the gummy worm concealed
inside. Wrap the fruit roll ribbon tightly around the bundle and place in
a muffin cup to serve as a snack. This should look a little like a bundle
of sticks with a snake inside, like Paul found. This snack would be great
for a large group - a box of 6 fruit rolls would make enough "ties" for 24
bundles, and one bag of gummy worms ($1.00 at Walmart) and one bag of
pretzels (again, $1.00 at WalMart) is much more than enough to complete 24
snacks.

Hope this helps someone,

Susan

4) Chalk Talk?

I am searching for a book to learn how to draw an object lesson with
chalk. I recall watching one of these drawings used with different colored
lights and as the speaker was talking he would change the lights and the
colors of the chalk drawing would change.
Can anyone help me with this?

6) Songs for Caroling

Songs I'd suggest for caroling, sing the first verses of old favorites
such as:
Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark The Herald Angels Sing, The
First Noel, Away In A Manger, Angels We Have Heard On High, Go Tell It On
The Mountain, Joy To The World, O Little Town of Bethlehem, We Wish You A
Merry Christmas.

7) Outreach Ministry for Children

I think your idea is fantastic.  Perhaps you could
write your denomination's headquater's Missionary
department to ask them for a list of children whose
parents are presently serving as missionaries.  Too,
it might even be more interesting to the children, if
the ones they wrote too had families that were
supported by either your local church or your local

God Bless you,

Michael K. De Rosa

8) Simple and funny skits

>I need simple and funny skits, which teach good thing , understand about
>Bible and Lord Jesus Christ. If any body can help me.

Try e mailing Graeme Coulam : graeme@short-christian-skits.com
He has lots of skits that he's written himself on a whole variety of
topics.

9) Film Canisters and medicine bottles

Just an important reminder to everyone going back and forth about
prescription bottles and film canisters. Someone mentioned film canisters
as an alternative. Some brands of film leave a chemical residue inside of
the canisters, and as it has already been mentioned, medicine residues can
be left in prescription bottles. Bottom-line, whatever you decide to use,
make sure that you clean it, and eliminate the chance of any sort of
residue left in the bottom of the canister or bottle. The safest bet by
far in my opinion would be a mini M&M's container, as they are already
made to hold food products, and therefor do not contain any toxic
residues, unless you have a child severely allergic to peanuts, where the
residue could irritate them.

10) Crippled Lamb Skit?

I stumbled on to this website by accident...or divine intervention, which
ever you choose to believe.  I have been a youth director at my church for
many years, but most recently started a program for ages 1-8. This has
been challenging in areas of service projects and crafts. I am also
directing our Christmas play this year and love the story of The Crippled
Lamb by Max Lacado, in looking for a play script for this story I was
brought to your website. Someone had listed how they used the story for
their play and it has been most helpful.  I am looking forward to
continued resources through Christian Crafters. Carla Brotherton, Ebenezer
Lutheran Church, Catawba NC.

--from SSTN: I'm glad the Lord brought you to the site! ;o) You might be
able to write your own. Check out the following technique based on Matthew

11) Question for Paulette?

Hi Paulette,
I would love to know how you teach such a wide age range-ages 2-14-wow!
thanks,
Terri

12) Involving Sixth Graders

Concerning 6th graders..... I have taken the 6th graders and made them
"staffers" in our children's church.   They do the puppet skits, run the
overheads, lead the music, help the children with their crafts, get the
snacks, etc.  I feel like I am helping to develop them into future
teachers, leaders, etc. of our church.  They love helping and the children
love having them.

Sincerely,  Mary Ann Freeman
