1) Christmas Photo Ornament
Dear Susan,
We have taken a lid and ring from canning jars to make ornaments. Cut the
photo to fit the lid. Take a length of ribbon and tie onto the ring.
Glue
the lid to the inside of ring. You can even use two pictures if you want
to decorate both sides. Add whatever decorations you wish... greenery,
pinecones, flowers, ribbons, buttons...there are unlimited ideas. The
rings are gold in color and look great on Christmas trees.

2) Christmas Ornament Pattern
we have used jar lid rims for picture ornaments, using a thin ribbon to
hang it with, one side had the childs picture, and the other side had a
picture cut out of old Christmas cards by the child making the ornament.
I have also seen the plastic keyring picture holders decorated and used as
picture ornaments.

3) Choir Names
When we first started our children's choir about 5 years ago, we tried to
think of names and finally thought about the name of our church. Our
church is United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd so we thought along
the lines of shepherd and sheep and finally came up with our name,
"Precious Lambs".

4) Christmas Photo Ornament
Susan,
This is in response to your request about Photo Ornaments. One thing I
like to help the children make is an Angel Ornament. We ask the children
to bring in a picture of themselves (or we take them to ensure every child
having one). The face needs to be 1-1 1/2". We assist the child in
tracing their foot and cutting it out. The heel will be the head and the
toes are the hem of the robe. Next, trace their hand and cut out two.
These are the wings and can be decorated anyway you choose. Sometimes we
keep it simple and plain and other years we let the kids use their
imagination. I usually laminate or use clear contact paper at this point
for durability. Glue the hands onto the back of the body (fingers
pointing out) and glue the face to the heel. Make a halo out of gold or
silver pipe cleaner. Use a hole punch and gold cord for a hanger. The
children are always amazed at how special these look. They are wonderful
to make early in December and decorate a tree in your church! One year
church members were instructed to take an ornament home and pray for that
child the whole month of December. Of course, we had to make 2 ornaments
for each child. The parents wanted one, too! Don't forget to have the
child write their name on the back themselves.

5) Christmas Party Games?
I'm having the kids a Christmas party and I'm trying to find some games to
use at the party. My problem is - the kids range from 5 years old to 11
years old. Any ideas would be helpful.

6) Christmas Photo Ornament:
Hello!
I got these really great wooden ornaments in the shapes of wreaths,
Christmas Balls and the like at Michaels Craft Store for about $0.99 a
piece. Aside from being the preschool Sunday School Teacher, I am a full
time teacher at an awesome Classical Christian School:) I got the
ornaments for my first and second graders to decorate and there is a place
in the middle for their picture. IF you don't have a Michael's, I am sure
that any craft store will have them for a great buy!!

10) Hanging of the greens

I have a poem that explains what the symbols mean. The poem is called
Teach the Children. If you want the poem, please e-mail me and put
Christmas poem request as the subject so I don't delete it.
FIR TREE ~ pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year
round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind. All the needles point
Heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning towardHeaven.
STAR ~ the Heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Savior for
the world, and the star was the sign of the fulfillment of His promise.
CANDLE ~ symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see
this great light, we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness.
WREATH ~ symbolizes the real nature of love Christ showed for us. Real
love never ceases. Love is one continuous round of affection.
ornament of HIMSELF~ Santa Claus symbolizes the generosity and good will
we feel during the month of December.
HOLLY LEAF ~ represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns
worn by our Savior. The red holly berries represent the blood that He shed
for us.
GIFT ~ God so loved the world that whoever believes in Him shall have
everlasting life." (John 3:16) Thanks be to
God for His unspeakable gift. The wise men bowed before the Holy Babe and
presented Him with gold, frankincense and myrrh. We should always give
gifts in the same spirit of the wise men.
CANDY CANE ~ represents the shepherd's crook. The crook on the staff helps
to bring strayed sheep back to the flock. The candy cane is the symbol
that we are our brother's keeper.
ANGEL ~ it was the angels that heralded the glorious news of the Savior's
birth. The angels sang "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to
men of good will."
BELL ~ That as the lost sheep are found by the sound of the bell, it
should bring mankind to the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance and return.
