1) Summer Plan-5 Day Club

Many of our churches have summer Bible Schools but there is another option - 5 Day Club! This is done through Child Evangelism Fellowship and is available nearly world wide. They train teenagers to teach Bible and Missionary Lessons, Verses and songs. They come to your church or to your home or to a park near you and do a 1 1/2 hour session with the kids. All you need to do is invite and provide a small snack. Many churches do this in addition to VBS and others have the kids come in and then they add games and craft time to it and have an easy VBS!

You can probably find the CEF chapter near you by looking in your phone book!

2) Un-passionate Christ

Our church put on a production of “The Un-passionate Christ.” It was a blessed wonderful success . . . we used it as an evangelistic tool; three people came to Christ that Saturday evening. Again thank God, thank you, and thank you for this play.

Have an anointed day,
Evelyn S.

--from SSTN: Hi Evelyn, we love hearing about successes in ministry! And three people coming to Christ is a DEFINITE success! AMEN! We don't always know what impact the site has, so thank you for sharing, we are encouraged! For anyone else interested in the skit, follow this link: http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com/skit_passion.html.

3) Summer Church Family Gathering

We usually have a 6-week summer semester for adult's and children's classes. But this year our church is planning something new. Not sure exactly how this will play out, but the emphasis will be on establishing friendships. We'll have dinner in Fellowship Hall as we usually do, and then rather than going to our separate classes, we'll have a short devotion, most likely led by one of the pastors, and/or have a Bible skit. Everyone, adults and kids, will then do some kind of group activity such as a game or craft. It sounds like fun. I'll keep you posted on the particulars.

Please share here on SSTN what your church does for summer functions!

4) Ten Commandments in the Positive

The Ten Commandments teach us right from wrong. They also present a positive outcome for those who obey them. For example, "Don't lie." instructs us to be truthful. "Don't covet." teaches us to count our blessings and be content with what we've been given.

With this idea in mind, when we teach the commandments, it is important to lead children to understand the positive side for those who obey them.

Commandments #1-4: Teach us how to show love towards God.

Commandments #5-10: Teach us how to show love towards others.

"The most important commandment answered Jesus is this: `Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
