When thinking about prayer, I think it is best to start with the Lord's example of how we should pray, then break it down.
THE LORD'S PRAYER: (Matthew 6:9-13)
Our Father, in heaven= The direction of our prayer is to the Most High God.
Hallowed be your name= The prayer begins with praise and acknowledges the Holy being of God. He alone is worthy of praise and adoration. Praise him for his power and majesty. (Psalms 148)
Your kingdom come= Things will not always be like they are. Jesus is preparing a place for his children. (John 14:1-4) Jesus will reign forever and ever. (Revelation 19, and 21 and 22.)
Thy will be done= Not my will, Lord, but your will in my life. Help me to know your will and follow you. Apart from you, I cannot do anything. (Romans 8:28)
Give us today, our daily bread= Lord, you supply all my needs. Apart from you, I have nothing. (Matthew 6:25-34)
Forgive us our debts= I confess that I sin against you. I admit I'm a sinner in need of forgiveness. (Romans 10:9-10, 1 John 1:9)
As we also have forgiven our debtors= Help me to forgive those that do wrong to me. help me to show them grace and mercy, like you've done for me. (Matthew 5:38-48)
And lead us not into temptation= Help me not to sin-help me not to even get close to sin. Keep my ways pure. Guard my heart that I may not sin against you.
(Philippians 4:4-9, Psalm 1:1-6)
But deliver us from evil= Keep me from Satan and his power. Help me to stay close to you, Jesus. (Hebrews 4:14-16, Psalm 91)
For yours is the Kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen= The prayer ends with praise to the only one who is worthy to receive praise and glory! (Psalms 150)
Also, study the great prayers and petitions of King David in the Psalms, as well as the Apostle Paul. See Psalm 25, and ch. 51 and Paul's intercessory prayers: Ephesians 1:15-23, Philippians 1:2-11, and Colossians 1:3-14. *Note, Paul begins his letters with "grace" and "peace". It has been said, "It is impossible to know God's peace, without first experiencing his grace. That is why Paul always wrote these two words in this order!!"

During VBS several years ago one of our visitors taught us this verse to sing after singing Jesus Loves Me.
(Sing to the tune of Jesus Loves Me.)
I love Jesus does He know,
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus likes to hear me say
that I love Him everyday.
Yes! I love Jesus.
Yes! I love Jesus.
Yes! I love Jesus.
In prayer I tell Him so.
Our children really love singing this song to tell Jesus they love Him!
God Loves you and so do I!

Dragonfly craft - I just posted a mosquito craft on my homepage which I
used in my 2nd grade class that can easily be adapted to be a dragonfly by
adding an extra pair of wings and changing the body shape a little. Check
it out at www.daniellesplace.com. They are very easy to make and
inexpensive.

> could anyone share with me a craft for dragon flys?
We made dragonflies this summer during VBS. We used a spring type clothes pin that we painted a dark gray (you could use any color paint) for the body. We used the plastic screen mesh material to cut wings out of and then glued them to the back of the clothes pin. The mesh looked like the lacy wings of a dragonfly. We glued some big moveable eyes on the top of the clothespin. The bigger the eyes the better. They gave the dragonfly personality. We attached a piece of the self adhesive magnet strip to the back and of course had the children put them on their refrigerators. They held our memory verses in a convenient place and the verses could be changed as new ones were assigned

A fun thing I did in my class when teaching of baby Moses was fast and easy.
Materials:
small plastic lid (pringles can, margarine tub, ect.)
blue clay ( model clay blocks from craft dept)
shell ( the kind I used I think are called lady slipper, they look like a cradle with a blanket in it, with the wooden bead head peeking out!)
small wood head from craft dept. (they have face on them already)
green construction paper
First I past out lids and small amounts of clay. The children flattened the clay out onto the lid, this is the water. Next I had them cut out fringe bullrushes out of the construction paper. We pressed them into the clay in a circle. Hidden inside the circle, in the middle of the lid, was baby Moses...glue "head" into shell.
I also made extra "baby Moses baskets" and hid them in the grass outside. Each child went one at a time to find Moses in the grass. When they found one their turn was over and it was the next childs turn. I had enough hidden for everyone to find.
The children where proud of how nicely their crafts came out and told the story of baby Moses to their parents.
