1) Armor of God

Sandra - I am using Group Publishing's Travel Guide to the Armor of God in Children's Church for K-3rd and really like it. I believe it also reaches older ages, that is just our ages for our CC.

2) Armor of God

When I taught the Armor of God to my class (ages 9-12), I had the children to put on a fashion show. They designed their pieces, model their piece and gave what the piece signified and gave an example of how that piece would protect you. The children enjoyed it as well the parents.

3) Christmas Workshop

We did something similar several years ago, but it was a booth of kid's selling items. We called ours simply "Kid's Korner." We used PVC poles to hold a banner across the front of the table that had all the children's handprints that had helped . We sold painted small premade plaster and wooden ornaments. We sent a note home to our Sunday school parents and put a note in the Sunday bulletin asking for donations of those items, painting materials. and small boxes. Many craft stores were having Hugh sales and we ended up with plenty of supplies. We had the children paint the ornaments during their Sunday School classes for several weeks. On the day of the sale, many of the kids manned the booth with the help of parents. We had thin line sharpies to personalized many of the ornaments. We charge $1-2 dollars per ornament. With the cooperation of the other booths, we issued play money to the children based on how many ornaments they painted and if they helped in the booth. The children then took the play money and bought items from the other booths or purchased ornaments. At the end of the day we bought back the play money and still had enough money to purchase Christmas bags for all the Sunday school children as well as donate to a less fortunate sister church so they could also buy gifts for their Sunday School children. This was a great community outreach program for them. They took pride in making something that showed their "Love of Jesus " and sharing that love with others.

This may not be exactly what you had in mind, but it worked for us. Good luck on your bazaar!

Quite a few years ago, my daughter and I wrote these words to the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" tune:

We have shared our song with many children in various churches and Vacation Bible Schools. It is readily learned and enjoyed, and we're still using it. Praise God for the inspiration to write it and the opportunities to use it.

6) Ten Commandments' Song

I just run across a song about the 10 commandments that is different. I think it could be used with older kids. Here is the link:

I have been teaching lessons on the life and death of Todd Beamer, the 9/11 hero who tried to stop terrorists on his plane. He and his wife were both dedicated Christians and there is a lot of good examples in the lessons for kids. Ours have really been very attentive as we had each lesson.

8) South African Curriculum

There are several non-denominational bookshops in South Africa – I fall under Gauteng but I know they all work with catalogues as well.

SANSSA (South African Sunday School Association) has excellent material. If you can possibly visit the shop – she often has specials there. She imports lots of things from overseas. SANSSA themselves have produced local curriculum in four local languages that covers the bible three times over the years from Grade 1 to Grade 12. It is reusable.

Jacksons Ridge offers a lot of material like how to teach memory verses etc.  really cheap and in small bite chunks. We are using their curriculum called Safari Club. It was drawn up by a group of pastors and ministers from different denominations – especially for missionaries who cannot take a lot with into the field. It has enough information per lesson to cover

Two weeks and after two years you just start again so while the initial outlay is a little expensive in the long run its very cheap and it is printed And bound in high quality.

CEF has excellent material especially for mission stories, school outreach curriculum, 4 day clubs etc and they have an office in
JHB somewhere. I ordered excellent bibles with the wordless book and cross references in them for use with children from them.
Their curriculum also runs in cycles so after three years you can reuse it again. I have used some of their material with great success.

Of course Cum Bookshop and churches like Hatfield community centre and Lewende Woord also run interdenominational
bookshops with really good DVD’s etc to use in teaching. Keep a look out at CNA they have several good DVD’s for
Children on Christian values – all to do with worms and bees etc.
