1) Halloween Message
Adapt this to fit your group..... expand as time allows
Have fun with it.....I used a real pumpkin, prepared ahead
of time. The "face pieces were put back into place." The insides, seeds in a sealed baggie to avoid mess.
From one pumpkin to another...
Ask: What is this? In what ways can it be used?
If anyone wants to know, 'What is it like to be a Christian?' Here's what you can tell them:
'It is like being a pumpkin. 'God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.
Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.
(lift off the "lid" and take out the baggie)
He removes what we don't need: seeds of doubt, hate, and greed.
Then He carves you a new smiling face. Eyes, Nose, mouth.....(poke out the pre-carved "face pieces.")
God also puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.'
(I had a battery-light inside, when I turned on the switch, I held up the
"jack-o-lantern" for all to see.)
(The congregation actually applauded)! Kids went to S S
During fellowship coffee time, I gave the pumpkin to a boy trying to sit thru the congregational meeting....He enjoyed "playing" with it!
MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS YOUR EFFORTS !
Sincerely, Merry
San Marcos United Methodist
