2) Liquid Object
Lessons
I can think of two liquid object lessons. One with the oil and water we did in school. Requires an old soda bottle or
similar type bottle with the lid. Fill half with baby oil, the other half with water. We put food dye in water to make it blue - more like an ocean and makes the oil stand out as being different. Firmly put on the cap and tape it shut w/ masking tape or electrical
tape. When you move it around after it's all filled, it's like an ocean in a bottle. Great for creation story, Jonah gets swallowed by the whale, Jesus walking on water in the storm, parting of the Red Sea etc. The two never mix - go wild.
2nd one - kids LOVE this one. Vinegar and baking soda. Another great one for old soda bottle. Pour an inch of vinegar into the bottle. Then pour in baking soda. The more baking soda the more it fizzes. Enough baking soda and it will fizz out the top - the cup over flowing. I used this with a group of kids ages 3-13 as a lesson on prayer. Poured the baking soda into a round balloon. Put vinegar into the bottle. Put the balloon's mouth around the mouth of the bottle. The baking soda from
the balloon falls into the vinegar. The result is the balloon starts to get blown up as the stuff fizzes. The kids loved putting the soda into the balloon and the vinegar in the bottle. The older kids knew this trick but were still fascinated.

3) Cana Wedding...You're Invited!
One of our long-time subscribers, Helen Setser, has submitted a lovely short
skit of how a wedding in Bible-times may have occurred. You can find it in our
Christian Skits section, the skit's link is in the bright green box, above.

4) Cain and Abel craft
For the Cain and Abel craft, each child could blow up a balloon. And then each balloon could be popped
with a pin, and the story could be, that when Cain killed his brother, it couldn't be fixed, like when the
balloon is popped, it cannot be fixed. I think it would be easier for the kids to grasp the gravity of the
story that way.
--from SSTN: You could also use permanent markers to draw faces onto the
balloons before popping them.

5) Reading SSTN Online
Sarah
Please know it is not a problem to go online and look at the newsletter. I have to wonder, for those who think it is too much trouble - how much time do they spend in lesson preparation??? Kids are worth the time we invest.

6) Teacher Evaluation?
Hi,
I would like to evaluate my Sunday School teachers to help them become better and more productive teachers.
Do you have any suggestions as to how this can be done? Do you have an evaluation form?

7) Bible Verses: Play Cat
Last night at church I played hang man with my class. They kept guessing letters until they figured out the Bible verse. Instead of
drawing a hang man though, I drew a cat. I couldn't believe how much they all liked it. Even the younger ones could guess letters.

Does anyone have any good craft, songs, or snack ideas for a preschool lesson on the Lost Sheep parable?
--from SSTN: There's a game based on the "Lost Sheep" in our Bible
