Reference Judy's request:
>"I am looking for inexpensive crafts dealing with an ocean theme."
Found four lessons in a book entitled Creation Crafts by Darlene Hoffa. Lesson #13 is Adopt A Beach, Lesson #14 - Leave Tide Pool Animals Where They Live, Lesson #17 - Learn about Whales and Lesson #18 - Learn About Dolphins. All lessons come with instructions and reproducible patterns. The ISBN number is: 0-570-04758-7.
Also from the book entitled Kids Create on page 99 is a craft called "A Day At The Beach." Gives directions for making a starfish from: posterboard, white glue, yellow construction paper, corn meal, scissors and a pencil. "Cut the posterboard and construction paper into identical star shapes. Glue together. Spread glue all over the yellow star. Sprinkle the corn meal into the wet glue. Shake off the excess corn meal when the glue has dried. Make several starfish in a variety of sizes.

The Future - The Revelation
In a noisy and rambunctious game I divided the room into 5 sections. I
call out the name of a book or "section." The kids race to the section
of the room with that book in it. I post the names of the books on the
wall. Oh it is wild, but boy, do they learn the books of the Bible!
The first week I begin with the names of all 4 Gospels and just the names
of the other 4 sections of the NT. Each week I add 2, 3, or 4 new books.
When my daughter was in eleventh grade she taught the 3rd grade class. I
made her a set of "books of the Bible" out of scraps of 2x4 lumber. Each
section was painted a different color and had the name of a book on the
spine with a "White-out" correction pen.

INTERCESSORY PRAYER
Grades 1-6
Here's how I teach children to pray using their own two hands: - the
Prayer Hand and the Intercession Hand.
The fingers on the PRAYER HAND are:
Thank
Confess
Intercede [use the "Intercession Hand"]
Ask
Praise
INTERCESSION HAND [to intercede means "to pray for"]
PINKIE [the weakest] - sick & unsaved
RING FINGER [those I love] - family & friends
TALL FINGER - leaders [church, school, gov't]
POINTER - missionaries, [those who "point" people to Christ]
THUMB - me

Motivating Kids To come To Sunday School:
I think the best way to motivate kids to have them want to come to SS is
to 1) Have a lesson that teaches them about Jesus, 2) Accompany the lesson
with skits, games, crafts that reinforce it. 3) Let the kids know you
care about them and want to help them understand more about God and their
relationship with them.
From time to time I will send out a letter to my class so they'll receive
it around Thurs-Sat. -before Sunday- The letter invites them to come
to Sunday school. Sometimes I'll tell them if you bring your bible,
you'll get a special treat, (candy).Or if I have a special day planned, I
let them know about it. It is always amazing to me that more kids come
when I take the time to send a note reminding them about SS.
Hope this helps you!

The BIBLEAIRE GAME, sent in by Deb High, has been categorized with seven groups of questions. The questions range from simple to more difficult, just like on TV! I've added the option to have a 'fastest finger round' for the players to enter the game. You can print out the free game on the Bible Games page.
ENJOY!

Any suggestions on how to recruit non-churched kids - or keep non-churched
kids motivated in coming to Sunday School - especially those who come on their
own without parents attending. Our agenda consists of: large group
singing and then individual grade Bible lessons, application and crafts.
