1) Spanish Lessons

Sharon,
There is a web site called www.freetranslation.com   It will help you
learn spanish faster.  You type in what you wish to say and it translates
it to spanish.  It's a great site. There are some great teaching materials
at  www.swordofthelord.com  and www.faithforthedfamily.com

God Bless,
Linda Snider 1 Thess. 5:21

2) Silly String / slime

It's just an idea, but have you thought about using silly string instead
of slime? We used that for our kids in Sunday School, and it was a hit! We
actually just used it as a way to exit with a "bang" (our quarter was up
and new teachers were coming in). We silly stringed the entire class and
it was great. =)

3) Shining star for Jesus?

I am wanting to do a theme shining for Jesus or a star for Jesus. If
anyone has any ideas to make this a success I would really appreciate it!
It would be for 3 and four year old class.
Thank you

4) VBS Prizes / Awards

Our Church is doing God's Allstar Champions for VBS this year. We are
getting some of the sports related items from The Oriental Trading
Company.
For the memory verse awards the children will be getting a Certificate
for saying their verses plus a Armor of God stickers will be put on their
Certificate for each verse that they say.  If they say at least 3 verses
they will get a baseball pen. If they say all the verses I will give them
both a baseball pen and a 2 inch vinyl soccer ball.
We are also planning to give out McDonald gift ceftificate's and
movie passes for other awards.
Have fun with your VBS
Margie

Summertime Fun Lessons

What can bugs teach children about Jesus? More than you think! In "Buggie
For Jesus - I'm a BEE-liever", children will learn important Bible truths
using hands-on buggie crafts, games, lessons, and yummy devotions. Great
for mid-week or a refreshing change of pace during the Sunday School
hour! Learn more in the Curriculum Creatives store at:

5) Construction VBS

Another idea would be to cover cereal boxes with contact paper.  You can
get it in "brick"  or "wood" designed.   I did this and put the names of
the Bible books on each one  (66 of them!) and started with the first ten
books, mixed them up and allowed the children time to try to put them in
proper order....once they learned the first ten, I added five at a time,
sometimes more depending on whether we were learning about a book that had
First, Second, or Third in front of its name, such as First and Second
Timothy.  The kids really enjoyed it and we even allowed  the adults to
try it....what fun that was. Dianne, Valhermoso Springs, AL

6) Nursery Ministry

I'm not sure if you're looking for technical ideas-the mechanics of
setting up a youth ministry or the activities and fun stuff to do. Either
way here is a link to an informative site. Registration is free.

Let me know if this helps......

7) Click It Rewards

We use what we call "Clicks". Each child gets their postcard-size name tag
pinned to their shirt when they first arrive at VBS. The leaders wear hole
punchers ("clickers") on rope around their necks, and reward children
throughout the day by giving them a "click" - punching a hole out of their
card. Clicks are awarded for many different things, from saying memory
verses, to being kind, to bringing a friend, to winning a game, to
answering a question... . At the finale night, a small prize is given out
to the two children in each age group with the most clicks. The prize is
usually a toy to do with the week's theme (eg. for a space theme, a foam
rocket model or a space-print pencil case). All other children in the
group win their prize too- a chocolate bar.

Leaders use their disgression as to who receives the awards in each group,
for example, if one child is always whinging and pleading for "clicks"
ends up with the most clicks and another child who has had a good attitude
comes in third, then the leaders can award the prize to the child who
comes in third. We tell the kids that "The prize sometimes goes to the
people with the most clicks, but really it's for people who have had the
best attitude and put in the best effort".

8) Can anyone help

Greetings!
This is just a little note for something to do here....
pictures to color can be done without words for the young ones, they eat
up the praises you give them for the effort in the work of coloring they
don't care much about the lines or what it is they color.  For the older
children ask them to be very observant and make a list of where they "saw" or
noticed God working during church time or during the week.  A special
bird's song, a spectacular sunset/sunrise, a colorful butterfly, part of
the sermon that struck his/her heart.  Many folks, young and old, do not
"see" how God sends little gifts each moment of the day and night (ever
take a really close look at the stars, or the sounds of the crickets?)Just
a thought.
You are in my prayers

9) Can Anyone Help

Hi, Just a thought but....why not start a mentoring
relationship with this young man?

During church he can listen to the sermon and
participate in the worship service.

Then after church why can't someone work one-on-one
with this young man?   If he's bright he can learn
from the sermon and then a more age-geared lesson can
be brought to him by a member of the church (as in a
really small sunday school class) during (if you have
it) your fellowship hour after church.

10)  Internet sites

Here are some of my favorite web sites to go to for lesson plans and
ideas.
I also like Danielle's Place, some of the ideas are free and some you need
to be a member to obtain.
Blessings to you.

12) Prayer Craft

Sarah,

We are going thru a particular difficult period right now but I have been
blessed with many ideas which I would be willing to share with you.  I
love what you are doing it is such a blessing.

This morning we studied on prayer, I had a square piece of paper with a
border around it (making a window).  I would like to do this next time
with an arched window shape.

We traced the childs hand (2-3-4yr olds) with a black crayon in the center
and then drew radiating divider from the hand out to the paper border
which the children colored between. It gave the appearance of a stain
glass window.  The final touch was to rub oil over the finished art
project to give it an opaque look.  We slipped it into a black boarder to
it could be placed on a window so the sun could shine thru it.

Do you have anything on the wordless book?   Also I know there is a
song.........
