1) Operation
Christmas Child
This past Sunday we culminated our participation with Operation Christmas Child, a program by
Samaritan's Purse to provide items for needy children across the globe. We filled shoeboxes with hygiene items, candies, toys, etc. Each child was asked to bring in one item...On Sunday we dimmed the lights and put the shoeboxes on a center table. we decorated with
Christmas lights and decor and each teacher said a prayer for the kids receiving the boxes as well as the workers who will be delivering them. the program comes with suggested prayers. we also lit a candle. before we started we asked the kids to tell how
Christmas made them feel and what it stood for. we asked that they not tell of gifts they wanted to get. we also told them about kids who might receive the
gifts, that they suffered from poverty, disaster and war and how some had no clean water to drink. we had one child at the end blow out the candle.
I think it was a memorable experience for all. we plan to do it again next year.

2) Boat for Calming Storm
Hello, Sarah,
I am sure others have thought of this idea when teaching Jesus calming the storm, but I hadn't until this last
week when I needed something for the kids to use in Children's Church.
We taught the kids how to fold paper boats (the small ones needed help) and they then drew Jesus and the 12
disciples on the side away from the fold showing. They used circles for the faces and big open mouths to show fear.
They had fun and I had fun teaching the teen helpers to make the boats so they could help the kids. Not a one of them had
ever made a paper boat which surprised me. Guess they do not need imaginations anymore with computers?
I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas, Sarah, and a New Year with good health and joy of the Lord.
Love in Him,
Helen Setser
--from SSTN: Dear Helen, your ideas are always a blessing! Merry CHRISTmas and
many blessings for the New year!

3) Let Christ be in every Christmas...
Let Christ be in every Christmas, 'cause Jesus is the joy of life.
Without remembering him, don't we get lost and confused in strife?
The people of God were promised a king, the wise men saw it in the night.
A glimmer of hope, a shining light, placed right where it needed to be.
They asked each other what it meant, they pondered looking for truth.
They searched the secrets of the ancients, what things the creation said.
All of the works of God were made, all have things to say.
Along with all their searching, they had an interpreter to be their guide.
It was the spirit of wisdom, a gift of God, revealing God's inventions.
As a little drummer boy, our hearts begin to pound, beginning as a little beat,
Then sounding out it's sound. For what we've heard is about good news,
Good will and the peace of God, to all men everywhere, whoever can hear it's sound.
The shepherds in their field, did they ponder the things of God?
An angel came to answer them, and told them where he would be found.
They found him in a manger, this wonderful thing of God, A Savior, a King, The Messiah.
The promised one was found.
