--> Super Heroes of the Bible

"Super Heroes of the Bible" is a special midweek program which examines
the lives of some famous and not-so-famous people who had willing hearts
to obey God. And by obeying him, they were used in miraculous and powerful
ways to help change the course of human history. It is the goal of this
series to build FAITH, COURAGE, and OBEDIENCE in the lives of children,
and to change the world for Jesus Christ.

2) Pirate VBS?

Hi,
My church runs a Christmas musical, at the same time we also run a
children's program. The theme for the musical this year is pirates and I
would love any ideas that people have about priate activities. It becomes
interesting beacuse we will have children who will attend every night and
then we will have children who attend only once. This means that the
formatting needs to offer a degree of continuity but at the same time
offer different challenges every night. I live in Australia so it will be
summer time at Christmas.
Thankyou for your help

3) Behaviour Contract

Hi,
One of my friends has just started a group with children aged years 6-8
and has had some behaviour problems. I told her about the contract that
was mentioned on SSTN and have found her the outline but I was wondering
if Sharon could post this policy or email it to me at
s0026455@student.cqu.edu.au
that would be excellent thankyou!

4) Used S.C.U.B.A. resources?

We are a small church looking for used S.C.U.B.A. resources.  We wanted to
buy the Starter Kit, but it is sold out through Group.  We would gladly
pay shipping and handling!

Thanks,
Elise Peterson

--> Amazing Miracles of the Bible

God’s glory and love are revealed through the miracles he performed and
were fully realized when he came to earth in the form of a man to save
mankind. By studying the miracles of the Bible children will gain a better
understanding of God’s love and faithfulness and how he continues to be
loving and faithful in miraculous ways to his people today. Great for
rotation-type programs!

5) Slime

I posted a request awhile back for slime recipes.  We had our Kids
Crusade last week.  We always have a friendly competition with boys vs
girls for offering (although I know I've read mixed reviews about that
type of thing here).  However, our church has done this for years and the
kids just LOVE it.  We have some "bankers" that sit in the back of the
sanctuary with rolls of pennies.  The kids bring their dollars in and
exchange them for rolls of pennies or they bring in coins on their own.

We have a scale with 2 ice cream buckets.  They love to see who has the
heaviest bucket.  In years past if the boys lost, I got to put a pie in my
husband's face and if the girls lost, (which we've only lost 1 year!) he
got to put a pie in my face.

This year we changed it to get the kids involved.  They were all so
excited to have a chance to be slimed that I made it be the winning team would get
slimed.  The girls got slimed!  They loved it.  We drew 4 names out of a
hat to see who would get slimed.  Each night we let them put their name in
for a chance to be slimed if they wanted to.  We did not force anyone to
be slimed.  These were all willing volunteers.

Here is the recipe I used.  I took about 5 pounds of flour, a bunch of
water, a box of oatmeal and about 5 boxes of lime jello powder.  We just
added flour and water until we had a good consistency.  The jello powder
gave it the green color.

I had the girls put goggles on and I gave them a trash bag to cover their
clothes.  I tried to get them to use a shower cap for their hair, but they
wanted to be messy!

Thanks for all the recipes.

6) Courage Crafts

This message is in response to the person who was looking for Courage
Crafts. One of my favorite crafts is the Stone of Courage craft. You can
adapt it easily, to fit just about any lesson that demonstrates courage.
And if you cannot find enough rocks where you live, you can go to a craft
store, or a pet supply store (which if you purchase fish tank stones they
are actually cheaper). You can find the full directions, and the printable
pattern online at:
http://www.faithwebbin.net/kidz/grownups/crafts/stone.html
Hope this helps!

7) Scavenger Hunt link

Hi everyone,
I returned to my computer this morning after being out of town this
weekend, and found an overwhelming number of requests for the Scavenger
Hunt (80+). My husband helped me create a link to the instructions,
instead of me trying to reply to everyone individually. The bookmark file
is currently a word doc but we'll try to replace it with a jpg file when
we can, to make it easier for you to download. I hope you all have
fabulous summer.

PS. Could you all please pray for Marcie, she is a very dedicated Sunday
School teacher from my parents' church. She has 5 children and is being
diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Thanks.

8) Sock It to the Devil Song?

Sarah,
I'm looking for a song that I heard but I have not had any luck finding
it. I'm hoping maybe some of the readers have and can help me. I'm not
sure if this is the title but this is what I have. Sock It to the Devil or
Sock It To the Devil Now.
Also want to let you know that I really enjoy reading the newsletter.
Your help will be greatly appreciated

9) Who Created God

One Sunday morning one of my 2nd Grade students asked if God had a
beginning. I responded with "No. God has always been and always will be.
That's hard for us to understand because everything we know has a
beginning and an end - a start and a finish." Then another student said:
"If God had a beginning, that would mean He would have to have an end."
A BIG thought for a young child!

11) Penpals?

I would like to have more information on the penpals.  I think that is a
very good ideal.  I would like for my Sunday school to learn to share the
good news with others and I think this would be a good way.
Yours in Christ,
