Extended Session:

Responding to: Wendye concerning Calculator rolls:

You mentioned that you have already made necklaces with the calculator
rolls. Perhaps you will consider these for a future craft in making gift
cards and boxes as part of your decorations. Lots of times when we make
boxes, we use fabric or lace, but I can see using your calculator rolls
in place of buttons for example. On a more personal note, you may wish
to make your own XMAS tree using your calculator rolls in place of
traditional Christmas balls. Enjoy!

Childrens church...help!

i need some ideas for childrens church could you please give me a hand?
i am a mother of two and have to come up with crafts for the kids at church they are at the ages of 5 to 11 so i am like ahhhhhhh

Construction/Building Theme

We are considering a construction theme for next year's camp sessions.
Has anyone done a spiritual theme with this concept. I am especially
looking for ways to make it appeal to girls ages 8-14. We have lots of
ideas that would appeal to boys. we will have spiritual connections, as
well as games and activities based on our theme. Ideas?

Veggie Tales VBS

We are using the Veggie Tales VBS unit this year. I am teaching the
"General Store". My theme is Daniel and the Lion's Den. Each day I will
have a different age group. 2nd, 3rd&4th together, 5th&6th together, K,
then 1. Can anyone provide craft or game ideas for this theme? It can be
different for each grade level or the same idea that is adapted. Bible
School is next week, June 19-23. Thanks.

David and Goliath games

I bought slings shots at Wal-mart with the rubber balls at the end.
I drew a huge head of Goliath on a piece of construction
paper and hung it up as high as I could on the wall. Take turns asking the
children questions about the lesson. If they get the question right, they
get to try to hit Goliath with the sling shot. If they hit Goliath in the
middle of the forehead, they get to answer another question and try again.

Screenit.com

I found a neat website that I thought others would be interested in. It is called
screenit.com and it lists all movies and videos. You can then read a brief
synopsis. The best part though is that it will list every instance of
immoral behavior and language. I have found it to be invaluable in choosing
appropriate viewing options for my family...nowadays we have to be careful
even of G and PG movies. Once again, thanks for your wonderful ministry!

Bible drill teams?

Love your newsletter. I'm looking for information on Bible drill teams. I read about this in a local newspaper and it sounds like such a unique way to actively involve kids in learning scripture.

Nail Crosses

Hi I am in charge of the crafts for our vbs. I saw a craft in a craft
magazine for crosses made out of nails and wire. I purchased all the nails
and wire instead of buying the kit which was very expensive. My husband
and I have been trying to make these ourselves and can't seem to get them
together. The wire is not tight and they keep falling apart. We are using
needlenose plyers to try to put them together. I was wondering if anyone
has ever made these crosses and can give us directions on how to make them
correctly. There has to be an easy way to do this!!! Tweety

--From ChristianCrafters.Com: The kids in Club 56, our church's midweek program for 5th and 6th graders, made these at Easter this year. They used a thin pliable wire such as florist wire, and FLAT nails. (NOT nails with a round shaft.) They wrapped the wire in an "X" pattern across the nails where they intersect. (You might try putting a small dab of hot glue on the intersect to keep them in place before you begin to wrap the wire.) Then, wrap a bit more wire at the top of the cross and form a loop to place your cord or raw hide strip through to hang around the neck.

Calculator rolls:

Dear Wendye,
When it comes to colored adding machine rolls, we have them at work and they come in a variety of colors. My thought was to make mobiles. Hang them from yarn at different levels, possibly hung from a hanger or dowel rod. If you get a variety of colors, put them in the shape of a rainbow for a windchime too.
