1) Courageous kids

I wanted to send this to Sandra Herron.  My mail to her came back.  I
wanted to send it to the site too, so here is my stuff she wanted for
"Courageous Kids".  I hope others can use it also.
1.  Abel--Gen. 4:1-15
He obeyed God; even though it caused death.
2.  Issac--Gen.22:1-19
Obeyed His Dad; Trusted him fully, even though it almost got him killed.
3.  Joseph--Gen. 37-45
Loved by dad and was his favorite.  He trusted God to
take care of Him while he took care of the sheep.  He was forsaken by his
brothers.  He trusted God to help
with Potipher's wife and while in prison.
4  Miriam--Exodus 2
Trusted God to take care of baby Moses.  She had courage to speak up to
the princess and then get her own mom, a Hebrew
woman, to take care of Moses.
5.  Moses--Ex.2-13
He was torn between two families.  He was taught about God while with his
Hebrew mom and then raised the Egyptian way
when he went to live in the palace.  He never forgot his people or his
Lord.
6.  Samuel--I Sam. 2:12-3:21
He showed courage by never asking or whinning to live with his own
parents.  He helped Eli and obeyed him and God.
7.  David--I Sam. 16-19
He watched his father's sheep.  He had faith in God when he killed the
lion and bear to save the sheep.  He trusted God with
just 5 little stones and a slingshot and God's power to save his people
and to kill Goliath.
8.  Jonathan--I Sam. 19:18-20:42
He was David's best friend.  He was torn between his best friend and
father.  He had courage to defend David by helping him to
hide from Saul.  He was almost stabbed by his father for this.
9.  Irsaelite Slave Girl--II Kgs. 5:1-16
Bible doesn't say name.  She had the corage to speak to Naaman so that he
could be healed by Elisha.  She trusted God.
10.  Daniel and the three Hebrew children--Dan. 1
They were captured for the king.  Daniel stood up for what he believed and
asked to eat vegetables instead of the King's rich
.  Daniel and the 3 Hebrew children did this.  They got good jobs because
they were in better shape than the others.  Later,
the 3 Hebrew kids were thrown in the firey furnace because they wouldn't
bow to the King's idols.  Daniel was put in the Lion's
den for the same thing because he woul not pray to the king.  They
worshipped God.
11.  Jesus--N.T.
He stood for what He believed throughout His life.   At age 12 in temple,
he talked to leaders.  He had the courage to do as His
parents wanted, even though He was God and had the best home in Heaven.
12.  Little Boy and the feeding of the 5,000--N.T.
He had the courage to give his lunch to Jesus.
13.  We must be like little children and come to Jesus--Mt. 13:31-33;
18:1-5; Luke 18:15-17 Sometimes, we must have the courage to take a stand
against our friends and do for God. I can't scan crafts so if anyone wants
them, then they should write a email with address but I also need postage.
I hope this is okay.

3) SONCASTLE FAYRE VBS?

Hi Everyone
Back at work after a hectic week of VBS last week. We had a wonderful week
with the kids. This is the first time we have used a VBS package. It was
very complicated in the beginning but what a blessing it was. Thank you to
all who prayed for us and assisted us with missing items.

Our next one is in December - Soncastle Fayre. I was wondering if anyone
had any of the following stuff that we could perhaps borrow, after we
bought the initial stuff - the distributors again have told us that they
cannot get the balance of the stuff.

Director's book (we found this invaluable - this time)
Age group Newspaper (not pre-kindergarten) (1 copy of each)
Teacher's Resource Any pictures that would be useful in putting it
altogether.

Your love and support have stretched all the way to Africa -
God bless

4) Judges, Deborah, Gideon, and Samson

Here's a link to some activity sheets including one on Judges and Gideon.
You're younger kids may not be able to do these.  I actually teach K-8th
on
Wednesday nights and am challenged to find activities that will be
exciting
for all of them.  I have been giving the little ones a simple craft to do
while the older ones race to see who can finish the activity sheets
fastest. This works well.  Hope this helps.
http://members.aol.com/bobwhit/bibleWS.htm

This website has a lot of other great activity sheets that are simple
enough to be fun, but helps solidify what they've learned in their lesson.
I've found them to be very helpful.

In Christ,
Tam

5) Old ties craft

We have also made snakes using old ties (some of them were really awful -
they often made the best snakes!!) But we added a film canister with a few
beans in it and shoved it down into the skinny part of the tie before we
stuffed it - this made a rattle snake - the kids absolutely loved it! We
used it this year for the Son Creek VBS from last year!

6) Prayer rock?

Would just like to ask what exactly a prayer rock is?? You said it goes
into a draw string bag, is there a note or a prayer attached to it??

--from SSTN: yes, check out the Archives List. Type prayer + rock into the
search box: http://christiancrafters.com/archives.html

7) Activity Bags?

I have heard and read about churches that handout activity bags to
children before the church service to keep them busy during the service.
If any one has done this, what types of activities and things do you put
in the bag and where do you get them.  Thanks,  Julie

--from SSTN: we use these at our church. In fact, we recently decorated
them using the Handprints craft from Psalms Series #1 in the Sermons
section of the website. Our bags contain crayons, pens, pencils, plain
paper and activity/coloring sheets that are reproduced from
activity/coloring books like the ones found in our Bookstore-Christian
Education section:  http://www.christiancrafters.com/bookstore.html
Additionally, our magnificent Children's Ministry Director, Kit MacLeod,
provides a kid-friendly bulletin.

8) Kickoff Sunday

Over the past several years my church has tried a large variety of kickoff
Sundays.  For a few years we saluted various professions (i.e. medical
profession- the hospital across the road was building a children's wing,
police/firemen, educators, etc.)
We have found that the best success over the past few years has been to
Kick-off with our annual picnic.  We get all the teachers, kids and the
whole congregation involved.  We hold our morning service at the park, eat
lunch and then the games begin.
This past year the families were challenged to solve some Bible stories by
approaching members of the congregation who wore necklaces with pictures
of Bible characters.  The idea was to solve the story and find out the
reference for that story in the Bible.  For example- Mary, Joseph, the
angel, and the shepherd came from Luke 2:1-20.  We had 4 stories.
The picnic is a chance for the families to meet the teachers in a less
threatening format and especially to let the kids see their teachers have
fun. I actually like starting rather than ending the year with a picnic
because it gets things off to a fun start.

Full Armor of God Game

Kids scramble to be the first to build a full suit of armor using peel 'n'
play stickers, and soak up the lessons taught in Ephesians 6 while they
play!  In the Games section of the Bookstore at:

9) Evening VBS?

Hello my name is Sandra. I am planning a VBS for my first time. The hours
are from 5 pm-8 pm. What are some of the activities that you do. Or do you
have some sort of outline that you can share? THANKS!

--from SSTN: Not sure how many days you are covering. You might find the
Psalms Series useful: http://www.christiancrafters.com/sermons.html

<>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <><

10) Fruit of the Spirit?

We are working on Fruit of the Spirit for VBS and we need any ideas.
Crafts, lessons or games.  We are asking for anything.

of the website: http://www.christiancrafters.com/page10.html

12) Christian Posters?

I used to receive a catalogue of Christian posters, books and other
teacher helps, but I can't remember the name of it. I fear it may be out
of business. This company had posters, signs really, which were in the
shape of road signs. I was always going to order them, never did, and now
regret it. Does this catalogue ring a bell with anyone, who might still
receive it?Looking for some updating of classrooms. Wanted to use these
"road signs" for patterns to make same out of material. Any help
appreciated. Samishlady@hotmail.com
