1) Discipleship
>What are you doing in the area of discipleship?
Barbara:
We are using one of the best workbooks I've ever seen to disciple children
and teens after they give their lives to Christ. It is called:
"Now That I'm A Christian"
Author is: William E. Young
Publisher is: Convention Press, Nashville
ISBN # is: 0-7673-2040-9
It is a six-week workbook designed for children and teens to complete one
page every day (Monday-Friday).

2) Disturbed by "Fun" Prayers
It was disturbing to me to see so many responses to fun prayer . Where
in the Bible do we see the example for making prayer time into a game?
God directed His chosen people to approach Him with Respect. That is
clear in how the tabernacle was designed and how the temple was to be
built. When Jesus was asked by His disciples for instructions on how to
pray, He gave them a model that taught reverence. The prayers of Jesus
to His Father are filled with honor to the Creator. ... It defeats our
purposes to teach our children anything less than utmost respect,
reverence and honor for God. Just another thought - would we want our
children to thank us or ask for things from us using slang or sassy
language? If not, then why do we think it is a good idea to teach them
to talk to God in such a manner?
These comments are submitted without any intent to scold, rather to help
us keep as high a view of God as He deserves.

3) Happy Birthday Jesus Party
I did this for my primary class last year. I decorated the room with a
birthday banner and balloons and used birthday plates, cups, table cloth,
etc. I hung a big stocking up for Jesus and gave out red hearts cut from
construction paper to each child and they wrote something that they were
going to give to Jesus during the coming year (more prayer time, coming to
SS regularly, Bible study, their hearts, telling friends about Jesus,
etc.), then one by one each child went up to put their heart in Jesus
stocking. We played Pin the Tail on Mary's Donkey, I bought the game for
1.00 and just made a sign that said Mary's Donkey. Then we sang Happy
Birthday to Jesus; the kids blew out the ONE candle on the birthday cake
and had cake and ice cream.
Hope this helps.

4) Bells Kids Sermon?
I will be doing a kids sermon Christmas Eve and need a little help
finalizing it. I am going to, jingle a bigger bell and hand out little
bells to the kids. I want them to then look inside the bell to see that
something on the inside is what makes the joyful sound.
We have Christ on the inside and He wants to make His way out, but
sometimes (have the kids put their little hands over their bells and shake
them,) things on the outside cause us to lose our joyfulness and we have
nothing to sing about. I really wanted them to understand, "Christ in me
the hope of glory" do you have any ideas that would make this better?

5) Marshmallow Snowman
I read Maureen Spell's Trinity Snowman poem
(from Sermon's page at:
http://www.SundaySchoolNetwork.com
)
and decided to use it for the Sunday before Christmas kid's church
lesson. She wrote about making marshmallow Snowmen for a snack or craft.
This is how I made them. It also adds to the illustration.
Materials needed:
Three large marshmallows
Two pretzel sticks
Turn marshmallows on their side.
Slide all three onto one pretzel stick.
Run second pretzel stick through sideways through the center marshmallow
for the arm. This creates a cross on the Inside of the second marshmallow,
a second reminder of Jesus, our Savior, who died on a cross for us.
