1) Used Sunday school lesson packs?

I would like to have some ideas on what to do with
the Sunday School lesson packs from each quarter.
I have boxes and boxes of them and would like to
put them to use.

2) Candy Land theme

Erika, I just re-watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory--there is
a song on the soundtrack called "The Candy Man" (about Mr. Wonka, of
course, but I think you could adapt it)..."Who can take a sunrise and
sprinkle it with joy.....   ..........and the world tastes good because
the Candyman thinks it should"
Maybe I'm reaching here--you're library may have the soundtrack if you
want to check it out though.

3) Contemporary teen worship service:

Our youth group just started having a contemporary service just for teens
over the summer. They have "Souled Out" every Sunday evening. I could have
our youth director send you some ideas if you'd like, but I didn't get your
email in the post....

I know they start off with contemporary music (mostly choruses that they
project onto the gym wall with a transparency projector). We have a girl
who's just learning piano and she plays some of the songs' accompaniment.
For other songs, I believe they use CDs and the kids sing along...

I do know that the teens are responsible for a part of the service she calls
POP (Personal Offerings of Praise). Each week a different teen finds a way
to show praise to God. They can sing, read scripture, read poetry, read
their own writings, or anything else they can think of. My daughter baked
chocolate chip cookies, came up with a recipe for "an exemplary Christian,"
and talked about how it is important to pass God's Word down to the next
generation just like many people pass down favorite recipes!

Their group consists of only a handful of teens, but this month they'll be
handing out flyers in our community, and the month after that, they're going
to do a "tailgate outreach" at a local University football game. They will
be starting to run the church van on Sunday evenings to pick the teens up as
well...

4) Candy Land Theme

Here are a few things that came to mind right away...

a) Use the Bible verse (I can't remember the reference right off hand) that
says "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good."

b) Make a giant Candyland Board and tape it to the floor of a large room.
Let the kids be the "pawns" and move to the spaces. In other words, play a
life-size version of the game. It would be great if you could decorate each
area like the game!

c) Have a pinata full of candy at the end.

d) Purchase those little candies that have Bible verses on them or wrapped
up in them and give them out to the community or send with invitations.

e) Decorate rooms with giant cellophane "candies" hanging from the ceiling.

f) Since color cards are used for moving along the Candyland path, you could
use the Colors of Salvation booklets as crafts and/or as part of a lesson.

g) Have children give "kisses" out to the adults in the congregation.

h) Have a contest to see who brings the most first-time visitors and give
away a Candyland or other age-appropriate game as the grand prize.

i) Do activities that center around the candy theme. For example, use
lollipops to review the story. Write questions on the sticks of the
lollipops and then press each stick into the bottom of an inverted styrofoam
cup. Have the children come up, one at a time, and choose a lollipop. They
should try and answer the question on their lollipop's stick. (They get to
keep the lollipop regardless :o)  )

j) Use songs like "Apple Red Happiness" or "He's a Peach of a Savior!"

Sounds like a fun theme~ I may have to borrow it sometime!

5) New Women's Ministry

Our church had a women's ministry for years that they called LIFT (Ladies in
Fellowship Together). After a while, it became little more than a monthly
social gathering. Eventually, leaders decided to scrap the old plans and
come up with a fresh new ministry that reached out to other women in the
church and community. Our Women's Director came up with the title WOFM (it
stands for Women of Faith Ministry).

Now the group works in the background reaching out where needs are seen. For
example, they have baby showers for new members; they get together
occasionally to make large meals and put it in small disposable containers
to be delivered to shut-ins and the elderly; they make flower arrangements
for women who are ill or going through tough times; they do card showers;
they host a Ladies' Night Out once a month in which women get together at a
nice restaurant for time of fellowship and getting to know one another a
little better; they host a Mom's Bible Study once or twice a month; etc...

As for fundraisers, there are SOOO many good ideas out there!

You could have a fall bizarre, a bean and cornbread dinner, a spaghetti
dinner or Italian Night, a dessert auction, a bake sale, a car wash, a Rent
a Mom, etc.

There are also fundraisers you can find online, like selling calendars,
making cookbooks, selling candy, etc...

7) Candy Land theme

Our class one time did a bulletin board on "God's Sweet Promises" and we
colored cut out pieces of candy and wrote on each one a different
promise....such as He will never leave us or forsake us....the children
enjoyed it allot. And it was very special to relies all the promises God
made to us. I hope this helps.

8) The Christmas Carol?

I am looking for a church who has done the Christmas musical The Christmas
Carol by Pam Andrews.  I would like to find it used or borrow it.  Funds

9) Lord's Prayer In Candles

This is in response to the person asking about the Lords Prayer in candles. This is one I have used in the past, I hope it is what you are looking for.

10) Teaching Younger Children

Your website is wonderful.  Bless all of you who participate.I teach 5 year olds and it is hard to do the lesson  as they doneed to move around.  When I bring in Pockets the Kangarooand use her they are able to relate and love hearing the Biblestories.  Blessings to all of you with your info.   Bette

11) Teaching boys?

hello..i would like to post my request for your help.....
i will be teaching 10 and 11 mostly boys in the class,,,,,,,any advice in
making lessons interesting for them...any ideas for rules
