Easter
Games: Empty Tomb, Egg Pass...
Here is a link to fun games to play during the Easter season:

2) Outdoor VBS
I suggest using the rotation model of VBS. That is, use the 2 rooms & the park for 3 different activity stations.
Split your children into 3 groups and rotate them between the stations.

3) Encouraging Good Behavior
In what ways do you encourage good behavior during class time? Please share your ideas.

4) After-Easter Ideas?
I need 3 lesson ideas for the three weeks after Easter. One I am thinking of doing is Jesus Ascension. After the story we'd decorate our own kites to fly into the clouds. So I guess I need two more to go with this one.
Any ideas,
Nancy

5) The Teacup and THE Potter
Sarah,
You cannot imagine how timely this story was (SSTN #8 - Feb08). I am in the process of trying to "de-clutter'' my home. I have a collection of teacups that is included in part of the ''de-cluttering'' process.
I was trying to think of an unusual way to 'gift' them to our church's staff, male as well as female. I thought of serving them some ice cream in a teacup one day. Then I checked my email and read this story. What a perfect story to include with the teacup. I don't even have to put anything in the teacup except this story.
Thanks so much for including it in this issue of the SSTN newsletter. It's just perfect!!!!!!!!!

--from SSTN: Dear Beth, God knows our needs even before we do! I almost didn't
put that email into SSTN, because it was originally sent to me personally and
not to SSTN. But I thought it had a great message so I included it! God knows
you by name! ysic, Sarah <><

6) Empty Tomb Idea
Hello!
One idea I used last year was to have each child bring in a coconut.
Then, carefully, using a small hatchet, I split the coconuts and the children
re-assembled them with glue, positioning them so that you could see that the
inside was indeed empty. Then they added cardboard cut outs of
Jesus exiting the "shell," and the women arriving at the
"door" and finding him gone. The beauty of this idea is
that we were able to re-use the coconuts later that season for our tropical
luau themed "Vacation Bible School."

7) Water of Life...don't
over explain
Don't try to over explain to this age group. Jesus told the woman that if she drank of the water He has, she would never thirst. We explain that this is the Holy
Spirit and anyone can experience the infilling of the Spirit. I have been teaching over 30 years and never, to my knowledge, had a child who did not grasp this concept.

8) Outdoor VBS
In reply to the letters about outdoor VBS: Our church did this one summer: we went to an Apartment Complex (with permission). There is a website that has some good suggestions and even a few free things. The website is: Sidewalksundayschool.org Verna
