I stand with all the saints (believers in Jesus Christ), who throughout the centuries have found common ground in the proclamation of The Apostles Creed. The simplicity, accuracy, and lack of denominational influence is truly a work of art!
"I Believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting, Amen." (*catholic means universal)
I am not my own; I belong body and soul, in life and in death to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ. Christ
has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He
watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without it
passing through the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to
Jesus Christ, his Holy Spirit assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.
(Heidelberg Confession -- Question #1)
From my earliest memories I had a faith in Jesus. However, I was in my early twenties when I truly began to seek him as the Lord of my life. I came to the realization that Jesus desired all of my dedication. I by no means have achieved this, but as God continues to pull me towards himself, I desire his will more and more. I praise Him for never giving up on me. He is a gracious and compassionate God!
