Sermon in a Sack

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it" Proverbs 22:6.

Before presenting the sermon, put a little New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs in the sack and have the children try and guess what is in the sack.

After they have all guessed, take the little New Testament out and show it to them. As you begin to discuss with them the importance of listening to and learning God's Word, ask them if they have ever regretted saying or doing something? Maybe even they have been corrected by their parents in the form of a spanking. Noting that the spanking was done for correction and not because they were not loved.

Ask them if they understand what God's Word is trying to teach them? Some may and some may not, so simply explain to them that if we would only live our lives in accordance with the Word of God we would grow up to be great men and women of our Lord's teaching.

Tell them not only are little children to live by the Word of God, but all of God's children, even Mommy and Daddy are to obey God's Word.

Thanks and May our Lord Bless you.
