My "Favorite Things" Parody
Teacher Appreciation Sunday | by Kath Doerr
My Favorite SUNDAY SCHOOL Things was written to honor our Sunday School Teachers on Teacher Appreciation Sunday. It is to be sung to the tune of "My Favorite Things" from the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical
The Sound of Music.
Adam and Noah and Abram and Sarah,
Moses - who ran from the hands of the Pharaoh.
Please tell me the stories of my God and King,
These are a few of my Sunday School things.
Lessons on courage and love and endurance;
Letting me know I’ve a perfect assurance;
Weekly you tell me of my God and King,
So I can remember these Sunday School things
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow;
Trusting in Jesus in both joy and sorrow;
All these lessons of my God and King,
Give me such joy – they’re my Sunday School things.
When it’s dark night;
When things AREN’T right!
When I’m feelin’ sad,
I simply remember my Sunday School things
And then I do not feel soooo bad.
