"Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, 'Samuel! Samuel!' And Samuel answered, 'Speak, for Your servant hears'" 1 Samuel 3:10 (NKJV).
We live near a cancer and blood center and pass by it whenever we go out. Recently, my husband and I drove by it and as I glanced at the center, I sensed the Holy Spirit softly whispering, "I want you to go there once a week, sit quietly, and pray for the patients."
I silently asked the Holy Spirit to confirm this to me.
Our destination that morning was the bank. We knew the teller assisting us from past visits; he loves the Lord, is married, and has two young girls.
Once we were seated in his office, I blurted out, "How is your son doing?"
He was shocked, and asked, “How did you know my wife and I were having another baby?
"I didn't know!" I said.
He then went on to explain his wife was eighteen weeks pregnant and an ultrasound showed the baby was a boy! We realized the Holy Spirit had given me that information and all three of us rejoiced and thanked God for the new bundle of joy soon to be expected.
Once our banking was finished, and since the Holy Spirit had revealed the news of the baby boy, I was prompted to share with the teller what I believed God had spoken to me about the cancer center.
The teller pointed to a picture in his office of a dear friend of his, an Army veteran who lived nearby and was waiting to hear the results from his doctor as to whether or not his cancer tests were positive or negative. He said,
"If the results are positive, he just might be one of the patients at the center I would be praying
for!"
Right then and there my husband, the bank teller, and I brought that young man before the Lord in prayer and I realized I had received from God the confirmation I had asked for.
The word cancer has the ability to strike fear into hearts and minds like nothing else can. However, we can find comfort in knowing that God is not only concerned with cancer; He is concerned with everything in our lives, every type of circumstance and situation that we face.
Perhaps you have felt a tug from the Holy Spirit that God may want you to step out to fulfill a desire He has in His heart for you to undertake. Know this; God has His ways of confirming it so you can have peace in knowing you have heard from Him.
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV).
God desires to use His children as He wills. Wherever He leads us, He provides and enables us to be extensions of His loving care.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us to discern Your leading and to delight in doing Your will. "Speak, for Your servant hears!" Amen.
