In Ephesians 6:14, we are told to put on the "Breastplate of Righteousness." In Bible times, the breastplate of a Roman soldier was made of a hard material and was used as a defensive measure to protect his vital organs. Likewise, Jesus protects our hearts from sin and from Satan. He makes us righteous, which means "right with God."
Without God's help, we could not guard our hearts. But with God's help, we will have sweet success!

Today, we're making Breastplate "Peanut" Brittle, it is hard and sweet, to remind us that God wants us to guard our hearts in Christ Jesus, which
can be hard to do, but the result is sweet for our lives!
Breastplate Brittle Recipe
Caution! Recipe contains peanuts, which can be highly allergic to certain
people.
What You Need: 2 cups sugar, 1 cup light corn syrup, 1/2 cup water, 2-1/2 cups peanuts, 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 teaspoons baking soda, candy thermometer.
What You Do: Combine sugar, syrup, and water in a saucepan; cook over low heat until mixture comes to a boil. Add peanuts, and cook until candy thermometer registers 290 degrees. Remove from heat; add butter, salt, vanilla, and soda. Mix well. Spread thinly onto two buttered cookie sheets. Place in freezer for quick cooling. Break into pieces. Makes two pounds of brittle.
Optional: Shape heavy-duty tinfoil into miniature breastplate molds. Spray the inside of the molds with nonstick cooking spray. Place the molds onto a cookie sheet then pour the brittle into the molds. (No more than 3/8" deep) Place in freezer for quick cooling.
